LL Geothermal, of whom Borealis is a Joint Venture partner, obtained a geothermal exploration permit [GP2014001] for ~2,865 hectares in the Lakelse Lake area from the Ministry of Energy and Mines on January 21, 2014. (For specific details, please click here )
[Parcel GP2014001] Our view is that the geological environment in the Lakelse Lake area is highly conducive to developing a geothermal project. Our initial exploration and analysis suggests that we have the requisite subsurface features to continuously supply, and replenish, high temperature brines that would support ongoing power generation. As of June 1st, 2014, we are currently entering into the initial phase of our surface exploration program. Dependent on successful exploration results, the ultimate goal of the project is to develop and put into service a +/- 15 MW (net) geothermal power plant.
