Title:Renewable Energy Corporate Lawyer Intern 
Location: Borealis Geopower Inc. – Calgary, AB
Borealis GeoPower Inc., focused on developing high temperature geothermal projects throughout western Canada, is seeking an experienced, Calgary based lawyer with a strong understanding of the Canadian energy (conventional or renewable) or mining industry. Geothermal energy project financing, resource sector accounting and legal counsel follow similar practices to other sub-surface and renewable natural resources. Because of this, the role is ideal for a candidate with legal experience in the oil and gas or mining sector who is looking to transition to the clean-tech sector.
Job Description:
Execute non-disclosure agreements, customer contracts, management and staff agreements
Review and negotiate contracts
Assist with creating business plans through tax planning and structuring
Assist with closing and settlement of flow-through share and other equity & debt financing
Meet all internal and external reporting requirements
This role will work closely with the company’s controller and executive team
The desired individual will possess the following abilities and skills:
Legal designation:
Experience in Canadian energy or mining sector
Experience with power purchase agreements or with utilities is considered an asset
Very strong attention to detail
To be ELIGIBLE for this opportunity, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

• A post-secondary graduate
• Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)
• A Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or granted refugee status in Canada
• Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
• A first-time participant in the Canadian Federal Government Youth Employment Strategy (YES) program

This is a full-time position located in Calgary, Alberta that is a minimum of 30 hours a week. The role begins on December 1, 2016. The work term end date is March 31, 2017. The salary is commensurate with the level of an intern .
