2021 APEGA nominee for the Engineers Canada Gold Medal Award

Having won the Centennial Leadership Award in 2020, we’re honoured to have APEGA nominate our CEO, Alison Thompson, for the Engineers Canada Gold Medal Award.

2020 Centennial Leadership Award

APEGA bestowed Alison Thompson with the Centennial Leadership Award for her outstanding growth as an engineer and business leader in clean energy. Thompson’s steadfast commitment to geothermal has led to the removal of significant regulatory barriers and paved the way for future generations.

2020 Clean50

Kitselas Geothermal Inc. and Borealis GeoPower were endowed with a Clean50 award for their outstanding contributions to clean capitalism. Borealis engineered competitive capital operating costs, made breakthroughs in permitting and even set the regulatory path for other geothermal companies to follow suit.

2020 Future of Good – Canada’s Top 100 Recovery Projects

Future of Good recognizes two of Borealis’s geothermal projects, Fuel for Reconciliation and Sustainaville, on their list of Canada’s Top 100 Recovery Projects. Each project is distinguished for its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

2020 Foresight - Transformation Advocate Award

Foresight’s Transformative Advocate Award was awarded to Borealis for outstanding geothermal innovation. Cleantech can and will transform and industry. A transformative advocate knows that and uses their corporation’s influence to move the entire province toward a healthy and sustainable future, says Foresight.

2020 Foresight - Technology Acceleration Program - Best Pitch

Facing off against several other teams, our Chief Technology Officer, Tim Thompson, won Foresight’s Technology Acceleration pitch competition. Tim pitched our Fuel for Reconciliation project, which is currently under development and is found here.

2019 Women in Geothermal/Seequent — Global Visibility Scholarship

In 2019, Women in Geothermal partnered with Seequent to fund the Visibility Scholarship, which was awarded to Dr. Megan Eyre for her research using drones for thermal infrared and magnetic surveys for the Fuel for Reconciliation project.

Under the Clean Energy Ministerial and International Energy Agency, Equal by 30 is a worldwide initiative to promote equity and close the gender gap in clean energy.
 
Borealis works towards closing the gender pay gap and giving women the opportunity to grow professionally in clean energy.
