Borealis’s Canoe Reach project near Valemount was featured in the Edmonton Journal as an opportunity to decarbonize the recently approved TransMountain pipeline expansion. Our project could provide renewable electricity to pumping stations, as well as heat the pipeline to reduce viscosity and energy needed for pumping.

This case-study report selected the Canoe Reach project as one of five projects in Western Canada to be examined in depth. This was done to provide more insight into the development and operation of renewable community energy projects, and to enhance the understanding of the opportunities and constraints associated with community energy.
