The Borealis project, Fuel for Reconciliation, is displayed in the bottom-right corner of the #My2030 piece dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goal #13, Climate Action.

The Future of Good’s #My2030 art collection artistically showcases the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Loogart, an illustrator from Cantley, Quebec, says his use of fun colours with lots of people is bound with thick bold lines to create a storyline throughout the SDGs.

While Borealis believes in all the SDGs, its projects seek to build resilient infrastructure (SDG #9) by making cities sustainable (SDG #11) through the development of affordable and clean energy (SDG #7) while promoting gender equality in energy (SDG #5).

Alison Thompson speaks on NDP’s Geothermal Plan release event

11/13/2020

Alison Thompson, in her role as director of the industry association, CANGEA, appeared alongside NDP Premier Rachel Notley to share her excitement for the proposed Bill 36: Geothermal Resource Development Act.

The progress we’ve made in developing geothermal resources would not be possible without the oil & gas and mining industries having first spearheaded essential technologies that helped expand our understanding of subsurface geothermal reservoirs.

Progressing geothermal in Alberta and Canada is a valuable employment opportunity to transition highly-skilled out of work Albertans and into clean energy. Moving from a carbon heavy economy towards a more sustainable future is socially and economically beneficial to Albertans.

Government of Alberta announces plan for Provincial geothermal energy policy and legislation

10/7/2020

Picture
The Government of Alberta announced that it is set to have discussions with stakeholders and introduce Provincial geothermal legislation this fall. This will create greater policy and regulatory certainty for the geothermal industry, investors, and Albertans.

Borealis CEO and
Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) Chair, Alison Thompson, says:

"The Government of Alberta’s support for the geothermal industry through the introduction of regulations and policies will create new opportunities for the energy sector, while also allowing Alberta to integrate renewable resources into the existing energy industry. CanGEA believes that Alberta has tremendous accessible geothermal resources suitable for district heating and other space heating opportunities spread throughout the province. Some locations can also support electricity projects. CanGEA applauds the Alberta government’s leadership in developing regulations and policies that will allow industry to deliver social, economic, and environmental results to Albertans and all of Canada."
